Stage 1:
Client Brief and Outline Design Proposal
-
An initial consultation and site visit allows me to understand your garden needs, aspirations and requirements. This is an opportunity to discuss and agree the key functional and aesthetic requirements and create the initial ‘client brief’. This will typically take an hour and is free of charge.
-
After the initial consultation, we will produce an Engagement Proposal. This document contains information on the proposed process and fees. The Engagement Proposal is tailored to your specific needs and requirements. There is no obligation to proceed beyond the proposal.
-
After acceptance of the Engagement Proposal and agreement to proceed, we will start to gather information on topography, soils, aspect and other critical elements essential to the design process. A lot of this information can be obtained from online sources but we may need to commission a topographic survey of the site to obtain accurate measurements which are essential for the design process. We will agree this with you before proceeding. Often it is possible to proceed without a survey.
-
Using your client brief and the inputs from the design survey we will create an Outline Design Proposal which will be presented to you as a plan for your garden, a 3D CAD model, illustrations of your new garden as well as a mood boards illustrating the look and feel to help you visualise your new garden. During the consultation we will discuss the proposal in depth and agree any changes.
-
This is the final 2D plan which captures the agreed layout for your garden taking into account all your feedback. By this stage, we hope you are excited about proceeding to build your dream garden.
Stage 2:
Detailed Garden and Planting Design
-
We work up all the details of the plan to enable accurate quotations from contractors. This includes construction drawings for the key hard landscaping elements such as paving, steps, walls, water features etc and planting plans for your garden. These detailed plans allow contractors to quote more accurately and provide you with greater confidence.
-
We will develop your planting design in line with the agreed outline proposal. You will receive a planting collage, detailed planting plan, plant selection recommendations and a supporting maintenance pack to help you keep your garden looking amazing day after day.
Stage 3:
Quotation, Garden Build & Planting
-
Once the detailed design drawings are in place we are able to obtain accurate contractor quotations, whether it is for a complete garden design or just a planting design makeover. We work with reputable UK based nurseries to get the very best quality plants for your garden. We can help you find experienced local contractors to build your garden or work directly with contractors you may also know.
-
Your appointed contractor will build the garden on your behalf. We will continue to liaise with the contractor and you to make sure everything is running smoothly and the build is to the highest possible standards. Our clients often ask for us to oversea the build to make sure everything is built as per the design.
-
The final stage is the planting of the garden. The borders will be prepared, plants positioned and planted by the contractor or reputable local gardeners. We will use our expertise and knowledge to make sure the planting design aesthetic is delivered. This is the same process for the Planting Design only option.
-
Gardens are living spaces that will evolve across the seasons and over time. To keep your garden looking great a degree of maintenance is always required. We will share key maintenance requirements to keep your garden looking beautiful. You will receive a copy of ‘Your Garden Directory’ which contains all the information on the plants in your garden.
